It was good for a while

This is what the Gray News started out as.
You can see, every Friday, how it has ended up.

Vol 1, No. 1, motto: "Progress is the Ability to Make Ideas Work"
Vol 38, Number 26, motto: "Building a Better Community Through Communication"
Unofficial motto: "We always have the last word"

  • I have a story which relates to the GN Unofficial motto: "We always have the last word".

About 9 years ago I met Ray Clark for the first time. I phoned him and asked for a meeting because I had some questions about a piece he had written on a sensitive issue at the time. My questions challenged the accuracy of some of what he had written and the meeting turned confrontational. Clark got red in the face, his voice shot-up and he ended the meeting by saying, "Remember Cutter, I get the last word". This happened, I swear.

  • I believe you! It happened to me, too. It's one of the reasons I started this blog. Newspapers carry great weight, that's why they also carry great responsibility. To use the paper to threaten people is exactly the reason people hare reporters and the industry is losing credibiity. It also irreponsibile.
