A lying Editor? Not good
It's confirmed that the Windham Independent has bought the Gray News, The Monument published this week. As the new owner indicated, negotiations to buy the paper began months ago.
This fact has now been confirmed by new owner Donato Corsetti, twice, once in June by The Monument Newspaper, and now again in November by the Monument Newspaper. Despite the confirmation, Editor Ray Clark chose to lie about the upcoming sale. He printed in April, "the Gray News has not been purchased, is not discussing being purchased and is not for sale," which we now know is a lie.
It would have been better to say "no comment" than to speak and print an outright lie. I feel sorry for The Gray News and its editor Ray Clark and I feel sorry for its new owner.

Most of us know that this paper can not be trusted for the truth. The sad part is there are many out there who take it as fact. Why the board were complicit in this is a mystery...a very scary one. When the powers that be control the information democracy suffers. I am equally appalled by the advertisers who have propped them up. If the new owners choose not to clean house it may be time for a campaign of truth and justice.

Continuing this blog is a bit insane. Plus, you don't write as well or clearly as Elizabeth, although she was better at being ugly and hateful.
But it's fun to check in once in a while, read the inane, uninformed comments like your most recent, enjoying how you grab a non-issue and, like a dog with a bone, gnaw on it for all it's worth.
Oh, those liars at the Gray News. Oh. Oh Oh. Oh what will we do. Isn't that Gray News just terrible! On a par with world hunger almost. Get out the troops. Send the Gray News packing.

I will cease when the Gray News shows demonstrable change.
One does not stop pointing out trouble spots just because they continue for a long time. At least, I don't. And a biased lying newspaper is not on a par with world hunger, or even local hunger, but it does cause hurt of a different kind that is just as bad as hunger, because it is unnecessary.
You can stop reading the Gray News if their kind of writing hurts you, or you can stop reading this blog if what I write displeases you. We have that freedom here in the US.
But bad newspapers are indicative of a bad democrary, so I seek to protect the freedoms we have it by pointing out those whom contribute to their chipping away.

Biasbuster, I certainly hope you continue following Ray Clark and his editorials. I can't believe Windham Independent would even consider keeping Ray...He is Despicable! Maybe it IS time to point out some of Ray's past behaviour? The New Owners are not as familiar with Ray's deception and unethical 'ways of operating'...But we know better! In time, they will figure Ray out; but why wait until the Damage is Done, and they find The Windham Independent gaining a reputation of Lying, Deception; unethical 'so called journalism'? They should be told the truth, sooner than later!

I think Ray is still in control. Why with all the news in town, Hannafords, By-Pass, election....is there a mountain lion on the front page. Same pattern to me. The truth and justice committee IS prepared to take action.

A Lying Editor CANNOT be trusted...why is it taking Windham Independent sooo long to figure out Ray Clark? Ray is a disgruntled OLD MAN with nothing Positive to say. He is Biased, Unethical, Lies, and spreads 'Half Truths' in every editorial HE writes! HE doesn't like Change {his own words}; and is such a Bah-Humbug..Wonder if He know it's almost Christmas?

When it happens the timing will be perfect. Often, former staff stays on until the transition is complete. The new management is aware of the issues around the paper, anyone who buys a company is thoroughly familiar.
As far as Ray being an old man, well, look what Ronald Reagan contributed to the nation and the world when he was Ray's age! And Walter Cronkite... Mae Beck was on the council in her 80s. Being old has nothing to the issues of Ray's journalistic ineptitude. Anyone of any age can be as inept as he is.

I would hope Alison Libbey would consider the same! She has violated our Town Charter with her recent Arrest; and should be held accountable! {Resign from the Council, Alison} It's the right thing to do!
