Gray News, Ray Clark lies

Gary Foster wrote:

Example 1: "On April 7, 2006, Ray Clark wrote: “So far as I know, The Gray News has never been accused of misquoting a member of the present Council.” This is not true."

Foster biasbust 1: "On August 22, 2005, Andy Upham requested an apology and retraction from Nathan Tsukroff for the Gray News headline “Upham Opposes Fire Department Celebration.” Mr. Tsukroff specifically asked Andy after a Council meeting if he opposes the celebration, and Andy responded “No” that he was not opposed to the celebration. His request for retraction and apology was refused."

Foster biasbust 1b: "Again, On August 28, 2005, I requested an apology and retraction after Nathan Tsukroff wrote “The forwarding occurred minutes after he received the e-mails, and without an apparent request from Prata for those e-mails,” in regards to my forwarding emails requested by The Monument newspaper. In fact the emails were forwarded minutes after receiving the request, not minutes after receiving the original emails. This time the request for apology and retraction was ignored. "

Biasbuster 1c: The use of the word "apparently" is not a news word. Either the reporter knows the fact as verified, or he does not. If he does not, reference to the fact should be omitted from the story. Anything otherwise is speculation, and speculation does not belong in a newspaper.

  • How could Ray Clark lie like that? When he had two requests that we know of to retract and/or apologize, and to then write that he had no knowledge of any requests for retractions?? That is a total lie. Thanks Gary Foster !!

  • Where did you read that--
"and to then write that he had no knowledge of any requests for retractions?"

    ??

  • "So far as I know, The Gray News has never been accused of misquoting a member of the present Council.” was written by Ray Clark on May 12 in his newspaper. It was in the Gray News. That's where Gary read it, quoted it, and spoke to it Tuesday night. Ray did in fact have knowledge from at least two councilors of requests for retractions.

  • "The use of the word "apparently" is not a news word."

Ooooooohhhhh. Two slaps with a wet noodle. What a colossal waste of time. I've spent my ten seconds.
    Bye.

  • Don't forget the famous, "It's not going to cost you any money" quote

then, come to find out, it is, over half a million.

Nice reporting job on the library. Even though you're in the middle of it you still got it wrong Ray

  • "apparently"

You are correct. If "apparently", or related terms, appears in a news article it shows that the writer was too lazy, or too biased, to pursue the issue.

I know first hand of reports over the past many years when Clark used such terms and NEVER BOTHERED TO PHONE the people who would have given him the straight talk.

The gray news under Clark has been a shameful decade of deception, yet that makes some people happy, much as believing in Santa makes innocent children happy. It is a very sad commentary. The Monument has helped Gray to mature to adulthood despite the kicking and screaming of those who cannot leave the womb.

  • that's nice of you to say! Most people feel that competition in business is healthy. I do too

  • Too lazy to interview Amanda about the burning of the Monument paper

Too lazy- just copied and pasted random comments in random staggered order about Debbie & her family {from a blogspot no less}...
Published it all into some idiotic form of an article!

No interviews with the citizens involved-- to get the facts and report the REAL NEWS...

Nope, too lazy to find out the real reasons behind WHY the citizens of GRAY do NOT want the Monument in their mailboxes or in their stores & places of business..

    Nope... too lazy I guess!

Or maybe she is just too busy dividing our town....mmmmmaybe!

  • Too lazy to interview Amanda about the burning of the Monument paper

Amanda admitted it publicly. It was not in a news story, EP mentioned it an an editorial. EP had an opinion about what Amanda did, like you have opinions about what EP does, and she stated it.

Too lazy- just copied and pasted random comments in random staggered order about Debbie & her family {from a blogspot no less}...Published it all into some idiotic form of an article!

That was on her opinion blog. And in the opinion pages of thepaper.
Jere's a lesson: 'article' means news article and the standards of ethics apply. Editorial means you can state your opinion. See the difference?

Nope, too lazy to find out the real reasons behind WHY the citizens of GRAY do NOT want the Monument in their mailboxes or in their stores & places of business..

If people don't want the paper, that is their business. That is and has not been part of a news story. If it was to become one, she would contact the people involved. She always does. Ray Clark NEVER does. He just uses peoples names without calling them. And lazily, he sends Nathan to meetings and them like a playground bully stealing milk money, strips Nathan of his notes and attaches his own name to the article. Lazy AND unethical.

Or maybe she is just too busy dividing our town....mmmmmaybe!

Nice try but it has been the recall people dividing the town, and the people yelling and interrupting people at meetings like Debbie Mancini that are disrupting our town. EP just reports on what those folks do. Ray Clark is a lazy writer and unethical to boot.

  • Are you Liz's twin or someone very close to her?
You Lie as much as she does

Liz copied and pasted {lazily} tidbits of comments and compiled them into print... no matter how you see it...

The PUBLIC innocently picks up her rag sheet and EXPECTS to read the TRUTH...

Just because YOU and LIZ prefer to play semantics with {editorial/opinions/NEWS} does not make it RIGHT or ETHICAL
    or even NICE!

No one is that anal that they would discern the distinctions that you claim that are jumbled up into different sections and on different (to be continued) pages!

Liz is well aware of the NEGATIVE POWER she welds!

    Please take off your blinders-

Surely this asinine routine will sneak up and bite you in the ASS

  • I said no swearing and stay on topic with no personalities. I know you can do it. Please try.

Your examples were from opinion articles, not news articles. You need to offer legitimate examples, or do not make the allegations. Thank you.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 4:17 PM

  • "Your examples were from opinion articles, not news articles"

I gave no examples ...just my opinion...

"You need to offer legitimate examples, or do not make the allegations"

The allegations are mine all mine
So, I will give them here-freely!

You seem to ignore my questions

The legitimacy of my statements were not LOST because I used the word ASS

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5:35 AM

  • Of course the legitimacy of your argument is reduced when you claim bias but use clearly labeled opinion columns exemplify that claim. And yes the legitimacy of your argument is destroyed when you use profanity.
Unfounded allegations have no place here, as do profanity and personalities. Please refrain?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7:05 AM

  • "Unfounded allegations have no place here"

What a joke! All of your postings are unfounded allegations against the Gray News

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.....You are making more of an ASS out yourself with each comment

    BUSTED!!

    Hahahahahahahaahahahaahhahahahahah
oh my sides hurt from laughing!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7:55 AM

  • No matter how you BROAD BRUSH Liz's hateful attacks on the citizens of Gray-- with her bias reporting or bias stories...There is simply no excuse for her behavior!

Innocent readers BELIEVE what they read in her paper

Innocent readers BELIEVE what they read in her paper

Innocent readers BELIEVE what they read in her paper

    _______She Preys on this fact_____

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7:58 AM

  • Nathan Tsukroff asdmitted to lying. He has lost all credibility and so has the newspaper. Admitting, after the fact by many months, and only when caught red-handed, he said that he lied. Gee, there's a real reason to read the Gray News. Their reporter lies.
So did Ray Clark when he said that 'to his knowledge' no councilor ever asked for a retraction. Lie again.
    The Gray News lies.

As a child, I learned that intelligent people do not repeat themselves.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5:38 PM

  • Nathan Tsukroff admitted to lying. He has lost all credibility and so has the newspaper. So did Ray Clark when he said that 'to his knowledge' no councilor ever asked for a retraction. It's absolutely awful that more people don't realize the depth of their moral deficiencies. If credibility and community dedication are supposed to be leading values of newspapers and journalists, the Gray News is sorely lacking. These examples are pretty solid.

    Thanks biasbuster

  • I asked the EP-Monument for a retraction and she refused!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7:10 PM

  • a retraction for what? I will check it out!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7:57 PM

  • meanwhile, back at the ranch, Gary demonstrated beyond shadow of a doubt that Ray lied, claimed he didn't lie, promised to retract, and then ignored the request. Gary's report is on the town website if you want to check it out.

  • Debbie Shaw Mancini...When are you going to 'Move on', accept that your Recall Failed, realize that Ray Clark and the Gray News are 'sinking slowly', and 'get it' that people are tired of your rhetoric?? How on Earth can anyone in Business be sooo Dense???

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 8:54 AM

  • Please, do not call names here, Mrs. Strangely Capitalized Letters. Debbie Shaw Mancini is not dense. She is a successful businesswoman and a loving mother.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 10:02 AM

  • Why would YOU defend Debbie Shaw Mancini after all her negative comments and her involvement in a recall, based on personalities, not to mention her nasty postings here; and her unwillingness to 'be nice' when confronted with the truth???

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 11:39 AM

  • Because she is a human being. Because no one it completely bad, nor is completely good. Calling her dense is not nice, and is not to the point of this blog.

And because her negativity his her choice. I refuse to descend to name calling negativity just because someone else did. The buck stops here, and instead, let's be role models for the poor unfortunates who are so negative.

Which do you choose, negative name-caller, or role model?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 4:16 PM

  • sounds like you are trying very hard to be a role model, not a nasty divider
I think most of the people in Gray are good and decent. Sadly, it only takes a few wretched people, working hard to spread their hate and discontent, to make the town look like a bad place to live.
I'm with you! Let's be positive role models.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5:46 PM

  • Most of the people I have come into contact with are nice. It only takes a few of the really bad ones to leave an impression, and that nasty impression lingers for so very long which is sad. I think it's up to all of us to live out the behaviors we want to elicit in people, and I am talking here about the youngsters who are watching us.
